INFORMATION: Team Stone is a private powerlifting club that trains out of Velocity Sports Performance in Willowbrook, IL (suburban Chicago). We are a competitive powerlifting club, but welcome lifters of all experience levels, from novices to meet-experienced powerlifters. You can check out some pictures of VSP here. HISTORY: In late 2006, Eric Stone set to start his own training group, out of his work's facillity, Velocity Sports in Willowbrook. Eric formally trained with the Maroscher Powerlifting Team as well as the Frantz Power Team. He aimed to re-create the intense training environments he enjoyed when training with those teams. It started small, with just a handful of Eric's former training partners from Frantz and elsewhere. Through his website, the group slowly started to add members, and eventually developed into a team, Team Stone. TRAINING: We use a traditional style of training, focusing on the main powerlifts as the cornerstone of our training. We “practice how we play,” utilizing a great deal of heavy singles in full competitive gear. Read more about the Team Stone training style a the following link. We train all three powerlifts, mainly on the weekends, at the following times: - Bench Press - Saturdays @ 3 p.m. - Squats/Deadlifts - Sundays @ 9 a.m. - DeadliftsAuxiliary - Wednesdays @ 9 a.m. - Auxiliary - Thursdays @ 9 p.m. Times are subject to change at any time--contact Eric Stone directly before attending any training session. MEMBERSHIP: Team members are only allowed to train at the specified club times as Velocity Sports is not a “traditional” gym, but rather is a private training facility. VSP-Willowbrook charges the following for membership in the powerlifting club: - $5 per workout - $25 per month unlimited membership - $200 for an annual unlimited membership EQUIPMENT: We train on all competition-quality equipment for all three lifts: Squats - Stout Monolift & Texas Squat Bar Bench Press - Flexion Olympic Bench (w/leverage-action adjustable racks) & Frantz/Texas Power Bars Deadlifts - Texas/Okie Deadlift Bars & Bar Jack In addition to the competition equipment, the team does have access to the some of the equipment at Velocity Sports. Velocity has 3 heavy duty Power Lift racks, two multi-station cable machines, DBs up to 100 lbs, and 3 Power Lift glute-ham benches. We also have a reverse hyper, a more traditional glute-ham that we own. Velocity also has some large tires and weight sleds, which we occassional use for our "Sunday Challenges." |
