Why ChicagoPowerlifting.com?
As I
searched around the web, I often saw people asking about meets in
Chicago, or that they live around Chicago and would like to get into
powerlifting. For those types of people is why I created
ChicagoPowerlifting.com. I saw void on the internet on
information for powerlifing in the Chicago-area. I felt a site
like this would be useful to powerlifters and those interested in
powerlifting. From early indications from lifters who have
visited my site, I would say I was correct in my assessment that this
site would be a worthwhile venture.
So
why did I decide
to focus on Chicago? To be truthful, that question is one that I
asked
myself. I thought about starting an IllinoisPowerlifting.com or
MidwestPowerlifting.com, but those were too restricted and too broad
for me. The Chicago metropolitan area is a very large one with
millions of people. Having lived in the Chicago suburb of Aurora
my
whole life, and now going to school in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst,
I felt this area was the best one to focus the site around.
I started this site because of a deep rooted love for this great sport
of powerlifting. I respect powerlifting in all of its forms, all
federations, all powerlifters. My aim is to keep this site as
free of federation politics as possible. I certainly have my
opinions, but this site is NOT going to be the place for me to express
them. I will link to the websites of all legitimate powerlifting
federation, and will list all meets from these federations with a close
distance to Chicago. If you are really interested in some of my
views, email me.
In closing, I hope this site can provide some useful information for
you, and/or will aid you in the promotion of powerlifting in and around
Chicago. If there's anything I can do for you in reguards to this
site or otherwise, feel free to email me.
I would also like to take this
opportunity to thank my friend Roger Boerg for all his help in setting
up this website. I really had no idea what I was doing when I
started to set up this webpage, and Roger walked me through the whole
process. Thanks Roger!
